Summary

Howard Carter left London on 24 September. He arrived in Alexandria and Cairo on 29 September, accompanying H.R.H. the Crown Prince of Sweden. Carter left Cairo for Luxor on 5 October, reaching Gurna on 6 October. The following day, 7 October, was spent putting the house in order and beginning conservation on the faldstool No. 351. Arrangements were also made for workmen to start clearing the entrance of the tomb the next day. Between 22 to 31 October the sepulchral shrines were removed from the tomb and on 1 November one of the sealed niches were opened.
