Howard Carter left London on 8 September for Egypt, arriving in Cairo on 13 September 1927. After meetings with H. Gauthier and the signing of the 1927–28 concession, he travelled to Luxor on 21 September, reaching Gurna on the 22 September. The laboratory reopened on 24 September, and work resumed on the Anubis-jackel shrine and a series of boats. On 6 October, the tomb was reopened, shawabti figures from the Treasury were examined and objects were transferred to the lab for study by Carter, Lucas, and Burton, who photographed the finds. The annexe was cleared by 15 December, and visitors including King Fuad, Sarwat Pasha, the Sultana Melek, and Princess Mary viewed the tomb. Work in the Annexe commenced on 30 November 1927 and the tomb was closed on 14 April 1928, marking the season’s end.
The journal is a bound buff-coloured volume with a printed "Egyptian Government" label on the front cover board.
