Howard Carter left London on 8 September for Egypt, arriving in Cairo on 13 September 1927. After meetings with H. Gauthier and the signing of the 1927–1928 concession, he travelled to Luxor on 21 September, reaching Gurna on the 22 September. The laboratory reopened on 24 September, and work resumed on the Anubis shrine and a series of boats. On 6 October, the tomb was reopened, and objects were transferred to the lab for study by Carter, Lucas, and Burton, who photographed the finds. The annexe was cleared by 15 December, and visitors including King Fuad, Sarwat Pasha, the Sultana Melek, and Princess Mary viewed the tomb before it was closed on 14 April 1928, marking the season’s end.
