with iron pyrites I got all the copper out
and much of the silver, By a second fusion
I got a large bead of gold of almost exactly
the composition of the sequins but I did not
get a good clear red colour on heating it after
beating it out flat.
The results of the analysis of these two samples
are:- 1st fusion 2nd fusion sequin
Gold 88.6 97.77 96.37
Silver 9.5 1.41 2.77
Iron 0.1 0.82 .85
98.2 100.00 99.99
no copper in any of them after the first fusion with
the pyrites.
Are you in London at present and if so, how
long are you going to be here?
Kindest regards from us both,
yours very truly,
Alexander Scott
