My dear Carter,
I ought to have written to you
a few days ago to let you know that Plenderleith
is in Germany at present. I expect him back
in a week or so as he left on the 26th or 27th July
for 3 weeks. We have been unable to find any
notes which could be sent on to you about the
specimens and the copper tongue. He will let you
have them as soon as he returns. I hope this has
not inconvenienced you much.
This very hot weather has prevented me
from doing much furnace work of any kind
as you may well imagine. However by simply
fusing a sample of gold containing both
copper and a high percentage of silver
