POSITIA/<O>N:
Right thigh, above knee. (See 256, 4, O).
DIMENSIONS:
Max. H. (from top of head to bottom of neck) 4.0. cents.
" L. (from occiput to end of beak) 3.8 cents.
DESCRIPTION:
The vulture-Nekhbet insignia finely modelled in gold.
The eyes of obsidian, details of eyelids minutely defined.
The beak, nostrils, brows, ears, wrinkled occiput, and <the well defined> partial
covering of stiff feathers on the back of the neck, as well as the
general general shape of the head, are all characteristic of the
Vultur Auricularis (Daud.), the sociable vulture, peculiar to the
middle and southern provinces of Egypt into Nubia.
It has a parallel socket at the back for sliding on to crown or diadem.
REMARKS:
It was found on the right thigh, above the knee, opposite the uraeus
Buto insignia on the left thigh (256 4 R). As both fit the diadem
(256, 4 O.) there is little doubt that they belong to that diadem,/<.> placed
