256, 4.P. (Bis) Linen-nemes/<khat>-Headdress.
Over the head of the mummy, held in position by the
gold temple-band (4.P.) was a fine cambric linen nemes -
headdress completely decayed - only the kind of pigtail
or chinonsic {chignon} at the back was visible among the oxidized linen
wrappings (for chinonsic see photo).
On either side of the head were wads of linen packed over the
temples to keep the shape of the headdress within the wrappings.
To this nemes/<khat> headdress belong Nos 256, 4.P.; 4.Q.; and 4.R.
The temple band (tied to the back of the head) passed under the
linen headdress behind the ears.
