Although the Captive Races – the Nine Bows, 

five Asiatic and four African - upon these 

sepulchral seals are generally disposed 

in three rows of three, it will be noticed 

in this series of impressions that there 

does not seem to have been any 

precise invariable rule for their number, 

distinction of Race <their/<nor> disposition,> nor. 

The devices show in one case the nine 

Captives all Asiatic, or/<in another> the first five are 

Asiatic and the latter four African, in 

a third the racial characteristics are 

not differentiated at all, in a fourth 

we find an upper row of three Asiatics, 

a medial row of four Africans, and 

a lower row of two Asiatics, and 

on a fifth example only their fxxx[?]/<our> 

Captives one above the other/<disposed prone,> <depicted prone>, 

lying one above the other.
