The large Oblong black box (N^o 288) was found to contain a figure

of Osiris lying on its side: the head was towards West, feet due

East, the figure facing North; it is carefully wrapped in mummy

bandages to imitate (?) a burial. The box was completely

covered, inside and out, with a black resin, like the other

ba/<l>ack boxes, but here in the interior it has every/<a very fresh> appearance.

The smell when warmed in the hands resembles a coniferous resin,

in fact it strongly brings to mind the smell when working pitch-pine wood.

A black shrine-like Chest (N^o 289), already mentioned (p. 6) ,/<a>s having its folding

doors open, contained three objects:

A figure of the King, wood, gesso gilt, upon a black leopard.

A wooden figurine covered with black resin in the form of the young

Horus, holding a gilded sistrum of Hathor.

Some of these figurines All the figurines, except the black examples,

were draped with linen coverings and some of them had around their

heads "Wreaths of Justification".
