                                       13 Aug. 1932.

 

Dear Carter,

          Many thanks for your letter, and 

for the cheque you kindly sent. I accept 

the latter as payment for the examination 

of your specimens, including the further 

work necessary in connection with the 

specimens of wood.

          I shall be pleased to come over to see 

you one afternoon next week, and, unless 

I hear to the contrary, I will come on 

Wednesday the 17th at about 3 p.m. If 

another day would be more convenient to 

you, please let me know, as I am 

any day that week would suit me.

          How stupid of me to address you as 

Brunton. I have had a few specimens from 

him lately, and intended to tell you so in 

my letter. That is the reason that I had 

his name in my mind, when I wrote
