                  Hordeum vulgare L. <[>Gramineae<]>; Barley.

 

Grains of this cultivated cereal are present in some of the samples.

          A kind of beer was made from barley in Egypt (Cart. 3, pp. 
                                                                                             61-2). 
Barley has been found among ancient offerings to the dead 
(Schweinfurth/<.1>).
