Journals and diaries
This section presents the archaeological journals created by Howard Carter and Arthur Mace (season 1–9), Howard Carter's diaries (season 1–3) and Minnie Burton's personal diary (1922–1926).
Numbering system of Carter's archaeological journals: A single notebook may include pages for consecutive excavation seasons.
Each page opening in the journals is numbered sequentially: pages 1, 2, etc. Journal entries are recorded on the right-hand page (odd-numbered pages) of each opening, and any additional notes, insertions, or edits to the journal entries are written on the left-hand page of openings (even-numbered pages). Not all journal entries have additional notes on the left-hand (facing) page, and although the pages are numbered, these 'blank' pages are not included here.
