7th Season (1928)
Howard Carter left London on 20 September, reaching Luxor via Trieste and Cairo on 1 October 1928, finding all in order at Gurna. The laboratory reopened on 3 October, and work began on cleaning and repairing calcite vessels and ornaments. Lucas arrived on 8 October, assisting with miscellaneous objects until he fell ill with para-typhoid and was sent to Cairo on the 18 October. Carter himself suffered a cold but continued work. Burton arrived on 5 November to photograph finds but soon contracted dengue fever. Despite illness and setbacks, work on recording, cleaning, and cataloguing artifacts—including box 370—resumed steadily until the season ended on 4 December.
