Dear Henry,

                    Thank you very much for the

copy of the Daily Mail article.

Of course you are quite right about the “mummy”

seeds. There is no authentic instance of these

ever having grown. The mummy wheat has been

tracked down to (a) absolute fraud on the

part of dragomen (guides) in Egypt (b) a case

in which an English gardnersic did not like to 

disappoint his employer and changed the

wheat and (c) coffins, which were cracked, having

been stored in a room that held or had held

wheat.

I am enclosing with this a small piece of the 

kernel of a do<u>m palm nut of XVIIIth dynasty-date
