NOTE: FIGURES OF GODS FOUND IN THE INNERMOST TREASURY.

 

          These comparatively inartistic figures of strange gods 

are valuable to us as a record of myths and beliefs, 

ritual and custom, associated with the dead. That they 

were supposed to be potent for good or evil, or have some 

form of magic inherent in them, is evident, although 

their exact meaning <in this chamber burial> is not clear to us.
