256, i. (1) Two collars of 'The Hawk' [ 𓂀 ] (See 256 aa)

POSITION:

Shins, just below the knees.

DIMENSIONS:

Max. H. 34 cents; Max. W. 40 cents (see note attached)

DESCRIPTION:

A gold collar made up of thirty two sections of cloisonné-work. 

Has shoulder pieces in the form of hawk's head.

Each section has eyelets on its upper and lower margin, by which they 

were threaded together by means of bead borders.

The beads used for this purpose were of the following kind and shape:

[ 𓂀 ] dark blue faience.

[ 𓂀 ] gold - (used only when necessary to make equal spacing of eyelets).

Has usual Mʿnḫt attached by means of gold wire.

REMARKS:

These collars were roughly folded and bent over the shins, so as not to 

prevent the shaping of the mummy - hence they have suffered considerably

cf. Mace & Winlock, Senebtisi, p 64 ff.
