Buckle No 44a
Parts <(4)> of a gold buckle in elaborate design.

Both those buckles are partly yellow and partly
scarlet. This colouring is not background[?] but shows
a definite selection <in parts> the glass <have> parts of the
design <largely made up of fine granules> soldered on to the rest of the gold being
always yellow <and> the recessed parts/<background> mostly scarlet.
There is also a good deal of scarlet on the back
<more than on the face and> which do[?] is more uniformly distributed than
on the face.
Gilt Couches.
The gilt surface of these is in parts yellow, in
parts reddish brown and in parts a dull
scarlet or plum colour.
