Much decayed.
Treated <sides which were ornamented with gold work> repeatedly with a strong solution of celluloid in amyl acetate applied with a pipette.

The soles leather had become very brittle and 

pitch-like. The leather of the sides was very 

brittle.
The sides were afterwards treated with a 

solution of Canada balsam in xylol applied 

with a pipette.
