                                    THE INNERMOST TREASURY.

In the north eastern corner of the Burial Chamber was the

Innermost Treasury – a comparatively small and low ceilinged

room. I will now show you what it contained:

                                            THE JACKAL-DOG ANUBIS.

133 / 908. ANUBIS UPON HIS PYLON.

The vigilant wathchersic over the dead. His position

in the doorway enabled him to watch over the Burial

Chamber and its occupant, while he also guarded his

domain the “Treasury of the Innermost”.

134 / 917. THE JACKAL-LIKE-DOG UNWRAPPED.

                                            THE CANOPIC EQUIPMENT.

135 / 929. THE CANOPIC CANOPY AND CHEST.

Note:- From an ancient myth and from the logical procedure in
mummification came a peculiar conception: the viscera were removed from

the body and place<d> in the charge of four genii, IMSETY, HEPY, DUAMUTEF and

QEBEHSNEWEF, who were again guarded by their respective goddesses, ISIS,
NEPHTHYS, NEITH and SELKIT, whose actual spirits they were <(x)>. Hensesic after

the mummy, its coffins, sarcophagus, and shielding shrines, the most important

appurtenance <of the Tomb> was the Canopic Equipment. Here, as you will see, this equip-

ment, with its protective goddesses, is in keeping both in richness and in

glory the exalted station of its owner.

136 / 930. ISIS
137 / 933. NEPTHYS
138 / 935. NEITH
