Notes

Mace mentions that he "noted second black shrine" containing a second nome standard of Aphroditopolis, which could refer to either box 37 and standard 37.a, or box 38 and standard 38.b. He also mentions altogether three bows, discovered on the top of bed 47, that showed a cartouche with Aten, referring to objects 48.f, 48.i and 48.j.

Cleared and noted second

black shrine. Contained a second

nome standard of Aphroditopolis,

also working out travelling booth.

 

April 16th

 

Carter came back.

 

Noting sticks from top of bed,

captives, compound bows, arrows etc.

 

April 17th

 

Market Day. Tea &

dinner with Carter, to talk over

future plans.

 

April 18

 

Lacau turned up.

 

Noting sticks & Bows. One of them

had cartouche with Aten.

 

April 19

 

Noting compound bows

all day.

 

April 20

 

Clearing first bay, &

still noting bows. Two more

had Aten cartouches.

 

Visit from Princess of Abyssinia,

& a mob of retainers.

 

April 21st

 

Still noting sticks.

 

April 22nd

 

Finished the last batch

of sticks and bows.

 

Winlocks left.
