Dec. 18th

 

Went with Carter to see Tottenham, who

stated that the Minister of Public Works wanted to

see Carter in the afternoon, as he believed he could

talk him over.

 

Carter had a long consultation with Minister

in afternoon. Decisions held over till next day.

 

Dec. 19.

 

Carter saw Allenby in morning & then went on

to the Minister. Refused to comply with government

demands, informing him that he would write to

confirm. Afterwards he lunched with Allenby.

 

Left for Luxor in evening.

 

Dec. 20.

 

Spent the day unpacking and fixing the family.

 

Carter had a phone message from Tottenham asking

him to withdraw his letter, which he refused to

do..

 

Dec. 21

 

To Valley in morning, where I spent the day on

chariots.

 

Carter returned.

 

Dec. 22

 

Waxing parts of chariot.

 

Harknesses & Lythgoes in the Valley in morning.

 

Dec. 23

 

Winifred & Margaret to see the tomb and No. 15.

 

Carter got first section of roof off s/<o>uter Shrine.

 

Still waxing chariots.
