          I am leaving for Luxor on Sunday the18th. and in all probability 
the official handing over of the Tomb, etc., keys and concession, 
will take place on Saturday 24th. in the presence of various Govern-
ment officials. Merzbach has kindly consented to be present.

 

          In conclusion I should like to express. very emphatically, my 
appreciation of the most efficient help and advice that Maitre 
Merzbach Bey has afforded me throughout these delicate negotiations. 
I believe I am right in mentioning that on one occasion in particu-
lar he saved a very grave situation. To his wise counsel I am 
deeply indebted.
