No 240 <211> Alabaster Jar (? For Perfume: Lion on lid). Cement fastening on lion
and ivory knob. Soluble in acetone and alcohol. Resin with ? red colour.
No 193. Contents of Vase in Kiosk. Reddish-brown powder loosely
5/25 aggregated in lumps. Insoluble in petroleum spirit. Practically
wholly soluble in alcohol: burns with smoky flame & smells like
burning varnish.
No 193 Cementing Material on Vases. Black, resinous. Partly soluble in
𓂀 6/25 acetone: insoluble in petroleum spirit. Similar to black varnish
on Kiosk.
No 172 Necklace. Some resin beads Reddish: brittle.
…. Hollow Reed. Filled with <hard> black resinous-looking material

Pot[?]. Spt. Slightly yellowish soln: and greasy stain on paper
fatty matter (white, but not solid) ? due to impure Po[?] Spt
alcohol. Brown soln. Residue after crop[?] Yellow, translucent,
soft, burns, aromatic, fatty. Contra lid[?] their with Ret[?] Spt.
Final residue = yellow powder – resinous, soln sticky, smells
like burning varnish when burned. Extract = Fatty Matter.
Residue after acetone (& alcohol also) Brown powder with
remains of beetles: no charcoal: glows when heated.
Original material burns readily with luminous,
smoky flame & smell like burning varnish. Is
resin and fatty matter.
No 256 Under diadem on head of mummy. Brown: <in appearance> resembled beeswax: melted with
20/26 heat: no greasy stain on paper: insoluble in benzine, soluble in alcohol.
No inorganic matter present.
